Proudly independent since we first opened our doors in early April 1996, back when the Hacienda was still open and Grosvenor Street was an out-of-the-way forgotten part of Manchester. Sandbar partly occupies one of Manchester's few remaining industrial revolution era mills and started out as a German and Belgian beer bar. Back then no one was importing the beers and we were importing all the beer ourselves. These days we are more focused on local breweries and we are certainly spoilt for choice. In 2019 we are proud to have been voted by you the best pub / craft beer bar at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival awards.
