Old old bottle retrieved from the back corner of my fridge. Dark amber brown color tan head. Aroma of mixed spice and burnt butterscotch. Taste is rich burnt caramel and pretty hefty spice. Exceeded my expectations.

Bottle - Light oxidixation and rich caramel. Cloudy copper with a decent beige head. Caramel, some spicy hops and a light bitterness. Nice.

Deep red waxed 2015 vintage 22oz bomber, courtesy of burg326, pours with a murky brackish deep auburn brown body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up plenty of booze notes (enough booziness to seem barrel aged) followed by some malt blunted pine hops, some maltiness and then a light spicy oak note in the background. The taste is similar as it delivers a pulse of booze followed closely by a blend of bitter to resiny pine hops and smooth sweet malts. The malts take on a bit of a molasses like sweetness to midway to help keep the boozy notes in check. Into the finish the pine hops are met by a light spicy oakiness and residual sugars. Pretty nice balance between sweetness, booze and bitter hop notes and this does delver a sizable load of hoppy bitterness. The booze is too forward in the nose but overall I like it. Very nice sipper.

Bottle shared at the 10th Annual Epic & Unusual Beer Tasting, 11/29/15. Hazy orange, thin head, poor retention. Aroma of caramel, citrus, toffee. The taste is toffee, bitter citrus hops. Medium bodied

22 oz bottle from Hops & Barley, 10/17. My 100th Barley Wine Rating! It pours a murky, almost muddy looking brownish-orange color with a small, bubbly off white head. Nice caramel and citrus aroma with some sweetness comes through over a strong bitterness. Fairly full bodied, a bit boozy, and with a fairly sticky feel. Pretty solid beer.

Poured from a vintage 2015 bomber. Aroma is rather malty with some toasted bread, light caramel and toffee, light raisin, light nuts and hints of chocolate. Light oxidation and honey notes. Medium light hop character, pine and grapefruit. Light alcohol spice. Pours a hazy, light brown with some copper hues and a medium sized, moderately thick, tan head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers. Low lacing and medium legs. Flavor is moderately sweet, a bit more than I was expecting from the aroma but not nearly as sweet as a lot of big beers these days. Moderately strong notes of toasted bread with a bit lighter caramel. Faint toffee and nuts, light raisins, figs and honey. Some light alcohol spice. Moderately strong bitterness with moderate hop notes of grapefruit, pine and floral. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright American style barleywine. I like that the sweetness is kept in check. Quite hoppy which works well with the less sweet malt presence.
