Dampf Punk is our take on the California Common, a uniquely American style lager. This beer is fermented with our house lager yeast at a higher temperature more common to ales, yet showcases the best attributes of both lagers and ales. It holds the crisp clean flavors of a lager but the mouthfeel and complexity of an ale. The dry-hopping of this brew in the fermenter provides soft tropical and herbal notes which serve to accentuate the clean profile of the beer while simultaneously complementing the fruitier notes contributed by the warmer fermentation.

Reviewed from notes.
Bottle to becher glass.
Appearance: burnt orange color with a two finger white foamy head which slipped off fairly slow to leave some messy lace
Aroma: some oily to grassy hops with some clean malts
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas together fairly sweet with a side note of something caramelly and peachy; finish is oily and caramelly
Texture: light to medium bodied, somewhat sessionable; some smoothness along the tongue
Overall: odd to me and though I haven't had too many California Commons, as far as I know this is fairly close to the style. Despite being an odd beer to me, part of me thinks I could come back to this.

On tap at the brewery. Poured a hazy golden-amber colour with a white cap, average retention and patchy lacing. Starts off on a malty note and has a good hoppy finish. Not sure about the aromas, as it smells like rhubarb. Not their greatest. Next.

Bottle from the brewery that I probably kept linger than I should have: pours amber with whitish head. Aroma is slightly oxidized hops, caramel maltiness. Taste is sweet maltiness, some hoppy bite that has been attenuated. Can't say that I particularly enjoyed. However, I suspect this was mostly my fault.

Bottle at share. Pours orange. Caramel, cardboard, toffee, bit of citrus fruit, something peachy. Medium body. Ok.
