The World Famous Sally Lunn Bath Bunns [a large light brioche-like 'bunn'] were only made possible because of beer. A skilled baker and "brewess" by heritage, Sally Lunn brought Bath her Huguenot tradition of the bunn and the barm. The light and airy Bath Bunns needed barm [a yeasty bi product of the brewing process] a key secret ingredient in the eponymous bunns that so captivated Bath at the time. In Georgian Bath the brewing of beer was a woman's domain and Brewess's beer was drunk at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Demand was vast, for it was the famous big beer, tailored to the Georgian tastes of the time, not the Bath waters, that would be the refreshing accompaniment to the eponymous Sally Lunn Bunn.
