Off The Trail is a traditional English style Barleywine brewed with UK Maris Otter, Golden Promise and a bit of amber malt. Following a three hour boil and a cool fermentation with a classic English yeast strain, the beer was then aged for 8 months in a small format Wigle Whiskey Pennsylvania rye whiskey barrel.

Light brown, a bit murky. Beautiful malt aroma, light fruit, vanillins, date sugar. On the palate, that, plus nice fruity element, excellent rye character. This is really good. Well, RIP Pint Size, this is excellent.

On tap at Bottleworks, pours a deep dark brown with a tiny head. Aroma brings out lots of rye whiskey barrels, lots of dark dried fruits, and bready toffee. Flavour is complex as hell, with tons dark dried fruits, big bourbon barrels, light spiciness, and bready caramel. Huge bourbon and wonderful malty base. Wonderful.

Lost check-in from August even though I vaguely remember talking to Andy K. (Thanks!) About how good it was. One day untappd will cache check-ins even if you forget to hit the green button. One day!
