Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 4 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 4.5
Sample at brewpub. Dark brown to black, dark beige head. Smells downright chocolate syrup with some spirit added. The taste is vague chocolate, but more like burnt sugar, acrid hops, ashes, sharp astringent bitterness. Not good, and certainly not Irish.
