We’re bustin' out a new groove based on the famous Merry Monks riff! Our Belgian-style Tripel lays the foundation that allows the electrified zing of tartness to shine through. The addition of Sovereign and Rakau hops coupled with a crisp, dry tartness blend harmoniously with the ever-present Belgian notes of subtle spice, ripe pear and banana.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to tulip.
Appearance: golden yellow color with a one finger white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: pears, bananas, green apples, crushed clove and some Belgian sugars, subtle grassy-like hops with light floral to hay-like notes
Flavor: tart then sweet to sour balancing the prior noted aromas; finishes with the pears, bananas and grassy/floral hops
Texture: medium bodied, good sipper, plenty of sour/tart harshness hits the tongue to provide a good pucker factor but I didn't mind for me
Overall: pretty good sour ale hits with a good sized ABV and make a decent effort of trying to present this as a Belgian ale.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 12/7/2017. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy pale golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lightly tart lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, white grape, melon, banana, pepper, clove, hay, straw, herbal, grass, cracker, white bread dough, biscuit, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, pale malts, and fruity/earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of lightly tart lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, white grape, melon, banana, pepper, clove, hay, straw, herbal, grass, cracker, white bread dough, biscuit, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate peppery/tart/tangy yeast on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, white grape, melon, banana, pepper, clove, hay, straw, herbal, grass, cracker, white bread dough, biscuit, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, pale malts, and fruity/earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/tart/spiciness balance, and zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from spicy/tart/tangy yeast. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately bready/grainy/acidic/tangy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 9.3%. Overall this is a very nice sour Tripel style. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, pale malts, and fruity/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly acidic/spicy/drying finish. Nice mix of fruity/earthy hops, Trappist yeast, and Brett; with a nice pils malt backing. Minimal residual sweetness, well attenuated. Basically just the Merry Monks with different hops and added Brett. A very enjoyable offering.

Can, Wine Warehouse. Pours golden with a large white head. Aroma is tart lemon, paper, light funk, metal. Flavor is sweet tarts, minus the sweet - slightly medicinal, perhaps like a lemon-flavored alka-seltzer, funk, rotting fruit, chardonnay. Blah, not a fan.

12 ounce can. Honey gold color. Small white head. Fruity, funky sweet malt nose. Tart, juicy, yeasty malt flavor. Notes of citrus, Belgian yeast and barnyard funk. Fruity notes in finish, like pears, white grapes and kiwi fruit. 9.3% ABV is hidden deep.
