Darkest brown, faint ruby highlights, beige head. The aroma is, as you'd expect, all salty peat, smoke and band aid. Barely any malts coming through, just some spicy alcohol. The taste: here the peat is more indulgent to the Quad - some dark fruit, caramel and toasted bread crust is there, before the peat kicks. The alcohol and ashes finish the beer nicely. In the end, the peaty barrel is flamboyant, no doubt, but it steals too much from the excellent straight Quadrupel. Overall, a very good one.
