From a Howler bought at Liquor Shed.
It pours a dark brown...mahogany, nice inch of off white foam, lacing is good. Pretty impressive for a 10% abv brew.
Smells of caramel malt, piney to citrusy hoppy, maybe a smidgen of pitted fruit.
Gawd, it's so tasty. The smell didn't reveal the elements I listed in a big way but it's so assertive taste wise. Caramel malt is big and semisweet. The hoppiness is pine, grapefruit citrus, very dry bittering yet juicy. Challenges Bigfoot for out right boldness. I'm not really getting any pitted fruit. Oh well.
Great mouthfeel...I've held onto the Howler for over a week.
I'm very impressed with this American Barleywine. I shall sip very slowly...
