American wheat ale brewed with cherry and pomegranate.

Our Sea Rose tart cherry wheat ale is a fresh take on fruit beers. Originally conceived during an employee-led R&D brew, it’s one of our most imaginative recipes yet. The American wheat style is light and clean, while fresh cherry juice adds a soft coral color and fruity nose that gives way to a dry, slightly tart finish. It’s approachable, yet unexpected—exactly what we love to brew.

12 oz can poured. Looking for a summer refreshment, and this delivered, before even trying it. Shiny, pink tinted golden pour with a fading head. Aroma is full of cherries, as expected and appreciated. Apple sauce reminder as well. Flavor is cool, and full. Good amount going on for a light wheat. Some apple, but a massive cherry linger. Pretty good overall.

Bottle from Corti Bros. Pours a very light ros? color with an off-white head. Mild cherry aroma. Med minus body. Flavor is cherry and arguably pomegranate. Not getting anything very tart or sour. Everything is very low, flavor wise. Drinkable, but not something I’d recommend seeking out.

355ml bottle. Pours a clear pink-gold with a medium, creamy, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Sweet aroma of wheat malt and tart cherry. Sweet flavour of wheat malt, cherry and a hint of pomegranate with a crisp, tart finish. Light body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Ok.

Bottle: Pours a light golden color with a pink hue, lots of bubbles... foamy white head. The aroma is sweet, lots of lager malt and corn syrup... doesn’t resemble a wheat ale at all. Faint fruity tartness. Sweet malty taste with minimal wheat, some faint bits of pie cherries. Finishes OK... overall not something I’d drink again.

12oz bottle. Filtered pinkish orange body. Thin patchy head. Relatively bland, clean. The fruit tones are unfortunate, artificial, undesirable. Really a weak, macro type offering. If Ballast Point keeps putting out gimmicky crap like this I will boycott them.

Refreshing, but there are better options.

Sample at the Long Beach tasting room. Clear pinkish-orange color with a thin off-white head that burns away quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing. Aroma of cherry, wheat and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of floral wheat, mild cherry and malt. The finish is fruity with a semi-tart cherry aftertaste. Decent overall.

Slight tartness make this beer quite interesting. Oddly a bit bitter on the nose, but not on the palate. Crystal clear for a wheat. Unique beer. Ballast point SD. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear light gold pour with a white head and poor retention. No lacing. Not much cherry flavor or tartness. Fairly acidic and bland. Meh. Disappointing.
