On draft at Outer Banks Brewing Station in NC. Pours a clear dark cola with a tan head. Roasted nut nose. Flavors of coffee and licorice with smoky notes. Dry roasted finish with lingering bitterness.

7-31-09 at the brew pub....its black...coffee aroma and flavor...licorice should not have been in the name of this( on their beer list its Stormy Roses Licorice Stout)...and I’m actually glad I put aside my dislike for licorice to taste this....its flavor is nice strong bitter coffee along with molasses...its smooth and goes down easy...a stickiness left on the lips.....according to the info on this beer......apparently adding licorice root is an old english brewing trick used to mellow the intense coffee-dark chocolate flavors of roasted barley in a dry Irish style stout
