This collab with our friends at Dublin's own Rascals Brewing Co. has been a year in the making, and is rooted in a shared love of bold ideas and rich, character-driven beer.
Rascals found us a very special Irish whiskey cask which had also been used to hold beer for a Dublin brewery, and brought the oak staves all the way to Budapest. After cleaning and trimming, we re-toasted the stave chunks, soaked them again in fresh Irish whiskey, and ran them through a long, gentle maturation on our proprietary wood infusion system to pull every last note from the oak.
To round out the toffee tones and barrel sweetness, we added a touch of Irish sea salt — not just for balance, but to bring out this imp's deep, nutty character.
On the nose, you'll find layers of hazelnut, almond, vanilla, and tonka bean, followed by smooth caramel and cinnamon fudge notes. As the glass warms, a subtly saline, earthy undertone adds even more depth.
The palate is defined by salted caramel and dark chocolate, with roasted hazelnut lingering in the finish. There’s also a touch of coffee and cocoa powder bitterness that rounds it out beautifully. A medium body and mellow acidity bring balance to the high ABV and bold flavors, resulting in a well-structured, energetic sip.

From tap at Constellation, Budapest, 21.09.25. Ebony. Persistent dark brown head and lacing. Strong aroma and taste of brittle, dried berries, dark chocolate and espresso. Good!

Bottled 375ml. -from Gravity Budapest, shared with Marko & Hrabren. Oily black coloured, minimal brown head, caramel and light alcohol in the nose. Roasted malt, sweet notes, light barrel and touch of salted licorice with alcohol in the finish. Bit messy.

Bottle, thx Ogi for sharing with us! Very dark brown body, blackish, traces of a quite dark orange-pale brown head. Completely weird aroma, very minerally, bit spicy, some raisins... unsure, chaotic, licorice... Lean, dry taste, heavy roast, oxidation, some mild barrel notes, vaguely citric, vaguely creamy. The "rare barrel" didn't leave much of a profile, but I think the issue is with their base beer. The licorice undertone ties things somewhat together, but it's just a mess.

0.375 l bottle thanks to Ogi who bought it from Hungary, shared with Marko and him. Oily dark brown to black, minimal head. Aroma is salted licorice, leather, hints of dark fruit, spice, alcohol. Hints of black olives, dark malts, prunes. Complex but kind of messy. Sticky medium body, aroma is alcohol, metallic, heavily burnt toast. Some oak, some smoke. Intense burnt flavour, astringent, harsh, heavily lasting into the finish. Dry, tiring, messed up.
