Draft at the brewpub, Marquette. Deep murky opaque brown-orange-black body, thin cream ring of carbonation. Nose of molasses and soy with lots of tannic oak, coffee bean, chocolate liqueur, espresso, and wine. Body dominated by vinous notes and oak, the base beer rather light with coffee and chocolate. Some blackberry tartness, but somewhat hollow. An enigma, overall enjoyable.
