On tap at Eccentric. Pours a deep brown that lets some highlights slip past around the edges. Aromas are light but there is some nice roastiness and chocolate there. Flavor is mild but pleasant. It’s not a heavy dark beer, but a lightly bodies chocolate one with a touch of smoke and a refreshing finish.

On tap at the Eccentric Cafe. Deep, opaque chocolate-brown body, medium tight beige head. Nose of chocolate and spicy grain. Rather thin at first sip, with rye huskiness, grainy with brown ale characteristics, including chocolate and nutty notes. Bitter rye finish. As the beer warmed, coffee notes became prominent. A malt-dominated beer, unlike the hoppier Founders Black Rye. Allow this beer to warm a bit from serving temperature for full enjoyment.
