At BBF. Quad with thick, lacing, off-white head and deep coppery bronze colour, almost clear. Aroma of roasted peanuts, dried apricot, (almost obnoxious) iron, nutmeg, dry earth, caramel, dried leaves. Dried fruit sweetishness in the onset with a deep background sourishness, smooth with medium carbo, slick nutty maltiness, toasted bitterishness, drying with some leafy hops, alcohol remaining well hidden. Intended as a tribute, or perhaps parody, to Westvleteren 12, but a totally different beer, paler, thinner, way less opulent, a lot drier and more metallic, to name just a few differences. Do not expect anything near the famed Westy when buying this.

Hazy dark brown-black with a thin, tan head. Aroma of liquorice, black tea, fig jam, prune, raisin, red apple, brown rum, wet wood, stewed plum. Taste has sweet prune, fig & pear, dark honey malty body, sweet-spicy liquorice with a phenolic hint. Herbal hoppy finish, only low bitter, lots of dried fruit & dark malt, wood & warming rum-like alcohol. Medium to full body, oily-syrupy texture, average carbonation. Better than I remembered. Original rating: 7/2/2016. 7/3/7/4/15=3.6. At Brugs Bierfestival.

Bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub shared by Cyriel. Clear amber color, average sized off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, sweetish a bit, overripe dark fruits, a touch of wood, slightly some alcohol. Medium body and carbonation. Decent.

08/11/2015 @home - 33cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconink, Vichte. Redbrown with just a lacing. A bit boozy, some licorice, dark fruits, dry. Not bad but a bit disappointing however. Had expedted more complexity.

330 ml bottle purchased at Julio’s Liquors. Best before 03- 2041. Really? 2041? Sure, ok. Dark ruby / brown color with a thin white head in a chalice. Aroma is light Apple, mild candy sugar with traces of yeast.
The sweetness is to toned down and not overwhelming on the palate. The flavor is the same as the aroma with the addition of hints of plum. Body is a bit thin and ends on a dry texture. The thing I like most is it doesn’t show an abundance of sugar. Easy sipping brew.
