Ocular Lens, our latest DIPA collaboration with @magnifybrewing , takes a close look at using a new blended yeast strain and a first-time hop bill to focus on some explosive tropical flavors.
We started things off with a flaked wheat, torrefied wheat, malted oat, and malted barley base and a blend of yeasts using our house yeast along with a thiolized yeast strain at new ratios. The hop bill starts off with a whirlpool of Citra Lupomax and Citra Incognito before a dry hop blast of Citra, Nelson, and Krush.
A beautiful yellow pour gives way to a tropical bright aroma of island fruit, fresh juiced OJ, and tropical grass, leading to magnified flavors of passionfruit, mango chunks, and guava juice with a touch of lemongrass and white grape.
