Sal – a saison with blueberries and botanicals

Sal joins the line-up as our fruit forward canned beer for the summer. Refermented with blueberries for two months from @sidhufarm and steeped chamomile for an herbal hit and lemon verbena for a touch of brightness, she presents fruit forward notes of berry pies and summer custard.

Pale purplish, no head. Assertive chamomile and lemon verbena. Tart, balanced. Good quality.

On tap at Fair Isle, pours a hazy bright dark red with a small white head. Aroma has a surprisingly cohesive blend of chamomile, lemon verbena, and a touch of blueberries, along with gentle rustic saison yeast. Flavour is more of the same, with lemon balm, soft blueberry skins, and chamomile. The farmhouse notes are felt in the back, finishing floral, lightly berry-forward and gently spicy. Good stuff.
