THE FIXER
TROPICAL STOUT
Fightin' crime in this town's a tough gig, so give this here tropical stout a swig. A roasty elixir called The Fixer, with enough fruity sweetness to fix ya. Peer past your wrist radio to a slick, lacy glass, where malt and molasses are the agents for a beer of class. Coffee and chocolate overcoat this gumshoe brew, while fruity esters manifest aromas on the nose too. When the stakeout gets old and the paper trail's gone cold, pour yourself a tall glass and let the complex layers unfold.
Malt: Ale Malt, Medium Crystal, Carafa Il, Chocolate
Adjuncts: Molasses

(Can) Good looking beer. Pours black with big tan head. Aroma of dark roast malt with notes of coffee and woody meaty hints. Medium body, well carbonated. Dark roast malt with burnt sugar notes. Smoky notes too. Chocolate and coffee. Liquorice notes. Hints of stone fruit. Hmm, I find this confusing. It’s certainly unusual and interesting. But I think the smoky sharp flavours (molasses I assume) are a bit too aggressive.

Press black with a rapidly disposing off-white head.
Nose shows heavy roast, chocolate, liquorice, toasty malt, cocoa, tonka and molasses.
Flavours include more heavy roasted malt, a big whack of molasses and accompanying rich sweetness. A bit of liquorice shows through but the molasses threatens to dominate.

Can. Very dark brown with a cm+ of light tan head that lasts OK. Aroma of coffee, roast, dark sugars, light spices. Medium bodied, creamy texture @ ~11C. Has some sweetness - chocolate, stewed peach, singed dark sugars- but it's just enough to tame firm roasted bitterness. Not overcomplicated, good balance. Typically solid & true to style.
