Pours a hazy amber from a growler/tap. I sampled this at the brewery and got a growler, I was surprised at the change between the two, I think because my fridge must be somewhat colder. The aroma is ham, maybe Virginia ham with a bit of maple sweetness. Flavor is a hit of that smoky meatiness, followed quickly with a tart sourness, followed again with an oily, mouth-coating liquid smoke. But it’s not smoky like many smoked beers are; the smoke is more of a vehicle for the sourness, which is pronounced. It is a very interesting beer, and I’m glad I sprang for a growler of it to try it multiple times.
