440ml can. Very lively pour, dirty murky amber with an enormous beige head taking up 95% of the glass, didn't take too long to settle down thankfully. Aroma of very piney hops atop caramel/toffee malt. Taste is again very piney, citrus, grapefruit peel, toffee, caramel, light biscuit, bittersweet but leaning towards more bitter in the finish. Medium bodied. It's no looker but a very tasty American Red; could easily be called a Red IPA.

Can from House Of Trembling Madness. Murky amber body with a velvety beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of pine, caramel and stewed apple. Flavour of caramel and apple strudel with a firm hop bitterness on the finish. Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A tasty hoppy red ale.

Cask at Tap and Can, Shrewsbury. Pours a murky orange-brown with a small cream head. The aroma has malts and rye. In the mouth it is slightly bitter with a little underlying sweetness and a syrupy texture. Flavour has nuts, sour cherries and toffee with hints of coffee later on leading to a sticky finish. I wasn’t at all keen on this – though there was nothing actually wrong with it.
