Lagered Farmhouse Ale

A farmhouse ale made from a blend of aged and fresh beer, lagered over the winter and infused with local yarrow flowers and European hops.

The blend was made up of assertively hopped beer using old-world Czech Saaz and German Tettnang varieties. The barrels displayed a firm bitterness with woodsy, spicy and floral hop notes.

The beer was then transferred over yarrow flowers with herbaceous notes that integrate well with the hop aromatics. Yarrow has been used in brewing for thousands of years before the discovery of hops, and we were lucky to harvest these flowers from our friends at Concession Road Garden

Hazy, light colour. Soft, phenolic, plasticy, soupy, mushrooms. Those are not hops and yarrow, the things I would have expected. On paper this beer sounds great. Not so much in the glass, unfortunately.

Bottle pour at Farmhouse Fest 2025, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma has plenty of hay, mustiness, and some dry-hopping. Flavour has some phenolic notes, dry-hopping, and light citrus. Phenolic in the burnt rubber sense. Not good.
