Smell of grapes, malt, some spices. Cloudy deep brown colour, tiny beige head. Aroma of malt, cough mixture, nutmeg, some dried fruit. Sweet. Thick texture, soft carbon. Funky.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear, fatty, syrupy nutty brown with no head and no carbonation. Sweet syrupy, honeyish aroma with an odd, confusing spiciness. Rich, sweet and tart honey accents, some wood and again these odd spices. Somehow reminds me of a mead. More odd than good. 090226

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 23/08/2025.
Deep amber with a light beige cap that thins to the edge.
Nose is toffee, herb, spice, botanicals, dried fruit esters.
Taste comprises caramel, spice, nutmeg, light fruit tang, toasted brown sugars, modest gin notes, stewed fruits.
Full bodied, slick light oily mouthfeel, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol and rising boost.
Tidy enough sipper if a little disjointed in places.

Near clear dark amber beer, any notion of a head is too ephemeral to take note of. Christmas spices and gin on the nose. Smooth palate, fairly light, mildly dry, modest fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a mild and slightly tangy caramel, very mild malt cream. A good degree of ripe winey bruised grape. Soft but strident gin, botanicals particularly well rounded here. A pinch more nutmeg than I would have preferred but, overall, an interesting and fairly unique barleywine.
