Bottle. Red, creamy layer. Raisiny, bourbonlike corny and bready sweet nose. Bourbon sweetness on the upstart, raisins, diesel, a bit pine and grass. Full body, oily mouthfeel. I have never been a bourbon fan and that particular note is strong here...

Bottle (Trade with nolankowal - Thanks John). Nice chocolate molasses and strong hops and alcohol aroma. Medium orange-brown with small head. Raisin and creamy malt followed by a hops blast. Alcohol doesn’t come out until after swallowing and then hits you with a vengeance. I really only get a hint of bourbon with this - hopefully the full 22oz will help knock out this lingering cold I’ve had.

22 oz bottle - Pours murky brown with a huge number of floaters despite a fairly slow pour. It has a medium sized, enduring head that leaves a heavy layer of lacing. The aroma is malt and bourbon. The flavor is malt, oak, and bourbon with the latter really dominating the flavor. Full bodied and rather smooth, it finishes warm. Whiskey lovers will like this one.

First ratingBottleLabel is very nice! Shady orange color, small white head. Low sweet with a dominant alcohol scent. Some non-stored cheese. Thick mouthfeel. Sweet taste that keeps going and going and... The sweetness is a regular Energizer Beer! (ehr, Bunny...) Smell is also grainy low quality scotch blended whisky, is it the oak character perhaps? Low bitterness. Rather dry. A bit salty and buttery.6/3/8/5/14=3.6RerateBottle purchased from Kingdom Liquors, Brandon, FLSampled on February 26, 2011Cloudy copper color, yellow head. Alcohol, almond paste scent. Sweet, alcohol, fruity taste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium high bitterness.7/4/8/4/16=3.9

I have had great enjoyment from this line of oak aged beers from Weyerbacher. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky chestnut color with a medium sized khaki head that lingered and left excellent lacing. The aroma is strong grapefruit with undertones of caramel and raisin. The flavor is strong and biting grapefruity hops with a sweet malty middle and a moderately strong toffee and woody finish. Elements of caramel come out as it warms. The mouthfeel is fairly thick. There is a bit of an alcohol burn. Excellent.

Cherry-amber body with almost no off-white head, nose is bing cherries with vanilla, boubon, and malty notes, and flavor shows cherries, plums, and bourbon (alcohol)! Does not hide the alcohol very well.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours amber golden with a slight haze and a small, off-white head. Malty, caramelish nose. Full-bodied with lots of oak and caramel. Well balanced, hoppy finish. Lovely. 220406

A hazy orange beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is quite faint, but what is there is of malt and caramel. The flavor is better, with primary notes of caramel, but also light notes of alcohol and vanilla (from the oak). The end is very dry and quite woody, but also with notes of cowberries.

Unlabled bottle courtesy of Kinz. This bottle was an unfiltered version of the Insanity. Dark amber color with a thin white head. Aroma of caramel and bourbon. Strong malt aromas linger behind the amazing bourbon aroma. Flavors of brown sugar and caramel with some bourbon hints.
