Keg at Ushers. Pours black with a thin beige head. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, pine, dark berries. Taste is burnt toast, chocolate, coffee, more dark fruit. Decent, but more like a stout. (Especially when tasted alongside Kernel’s BIPA.

Keg at Usher’s. It pours black with a small tan head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, juicy, roasted malt, dark chocolate, toasted nut and raisin. The taste is pretty bitter, hard roasted malts, orange zest, parma violets, charred wood, resin, coffee grounds, liquorice, mild acidity and peppery spice with a lingering dry roasted finish. Medium + body and moderate carbonation. Pretty full-on, but also pretty tasty.

Keg at Andrew Usher’s. Black body with a medium beige head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of Twiglets, coffee and blueberries. Flavour of ash, brambles, plum and Marmite. Medium to full body with a chewy mouthfeel. Light fizz. Rich and flavoursome. The best Andrew Usher’s beer I’ve tried.
