10th Feb 2017: First beer on my first flight at Devilicious, Temecula California. I wanted some thing to cleanse my palate before attacking the stronger and darker brews. Having said that it was a fine beer and a lot more than a ’fill in’ to rinse my mouth out with. Pale gold pour, fading white head. Citrus leanings in both the nose and taste, more hoppy than malty, dry bittering finish: decent.

Bottle at home. It pours a very clear pale yellow color with a white head. The aroma has bready malt with faint notes of pear, honeydew and earthy hops. Weak hop character considering the varieties used here. The flavor has bready malt with nice Pils flavor and spicy/earthy hops in the background. Solid bitterness. There’s some more light pear notes and hints of sweet melanoidens. It’s a touch watery on the palate, though the malt flavor is clean and crisp as expected. Very easy to drink and fairly crushable, though I was hoping for a more interesting hop character.

Bottle from Whole Foods in Davis, CA. Pours very light gold with a white head. Aroma of fruit and citrus. Med minus body. Mild pale malt, light noble hop, and I still think a bit of fruit and citrus. Finishes with a mild spicy bitterness. Nothing overly strong here, but the flavors are good and work well together.
