(Bottle) Black colour with brief, foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, liquorice, wood, tobacco, vanilla and black rye bread. Malty, roasted taste with cacao, coffee, liquorice, tobacco, vanilla, black bread, wood, rum raisins and a balanced cacao bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, sweet. On the sweet side, but really rich and tasty. Very nice.

Beautiful pour. Tons of vanilla and oak, very Christmas in a not good way. Over spiced a bit. But not thin I guess, at least so far. But does leave a long aftertaste like biting into a foeder.

Annie replacement! From 2018 boxelder. Way better than that.

330ml bottle [Thanks Bernd!]. Jet black colour with minimally late awakening, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, dark beige to tan head. Chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, a touch of roast and oak. Taste is sweet-ish, chocolately, dark malty, minimally caramel malty, notes of chocolate, dark chocolate, cocoa, some caramel, vanilla, mild oak, whiffs of cinnamon; lingering, sweet-ish, chocolately finish with slightly accumulating vanilla and cinnamon spiciness. Slightly creamy texture, smooth, soft and silky, minimally cloying palate, fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Well balanced, very fine; a good example of Põhjala's capability to to handle complexity and to use spices, adjuncts and BA in a really supportive, ameliorative mode - very, very nice.

Bottle at home. One year old. Has a dark brown to black colour with a small head. Aroma of cocoa, leather, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate truffles and rye bread. Flavour of ash, dark chocolate, smoke and leather. Some warming alcohol in the end. Has a silky mouth feel, medium to full body, and a light bitterness. Nice, sweet chocolate aroma and well roasted flavour.

Black beer, off white head. Slighly smokey aroma of dark chocolate and malt. Tastes of dark chocolate, toasted malt, a little liquorice, a touch of vanilla and you definitely get a little woody smokiness from the oak. On the richer side for a porter and very smooth. Very tasty too.
