Bottle Thnx ! to Walter ! Bought it for a friend(!) price, than aged it some further in my personal cellar . Awaiting for the right occasion, I now decided to open it as something special for my 1500th Belgian beer ! Cork came out by big force, out of its own, as soon as I unlocked the cage . No gusher at all though . Pours Ruby/brown , very dark but clear . Good white head . Smell is bit sweet, some dust ( hey, its 9 y old ! ) intense caramel . Taste is sugar, caramel, bit port, sweet, subtile and complex flavours. quite nice , not THE top , but certainly not as bad as the rates below . Maybe it got better with some age extra on it ??? some dusty notes, as well as touches of anis , very soft carbo . Bit too sweet perhaps, withoud having enough Port for a beer this sweet at this age . Possibly they used the ’wrong’ sweeteners ( such as sacharides ) instead of real sugar ? Who knows . Anyway, its still pretty drinkable , and a fun beer to have tried !

Small yellow-brown head, fast gone over deep dark brown beer with red shine. Alcohol, cheese (Leidse orKomijnekaas), dark malts, chocolate, and tons of liquorice, drop . This is pure, spiced, japwater , tisane from liquorice sweets. With some burnt malts, and who knows, some lost hops, for a bitterish counterweight. Some dry, slightly bitter rootspice, Buisman aroma, and fennel/aniseed - and then kümmel/cumin retronasal, coming on strongly warming up. Thinner than most Anker beers. Some slickness, slightly oily, and alcohol is not quite hidden. My under-standing colleague calls it a "one-off". I would rather speak about an "off one", certainly to ’t Anker standards.
