Never forget Yasphal, an elephant in musth, blocking the Bombay railroad in 1898 holding the East India Train Company to ransom. As the rainy season set in, only a barrel of the finest IPA could calm this testy bull. Since known as the Bombay Bastard. A nickname befitting this monsoon of a beer – Built to conquer the thirst that 35 degrees and torrential rains will summon. Yasphal knew..
Heavy bitters paired with sweet, roasty maltiness and sticky caramel tones. Wrapped together in a mysterious hazy profile with a hint of sea salt on the end of the palate that keeps you coming back for more – whatever the season.

Bottle from Drankenspeciaalzaak Jelle, Amsterdam. Aroma is malt, caramel, biscuit, soft hops with notes of citrus and pine. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate to medium bitter. Body is medium with fairly active carbonation. A modestly hopped IPA with some tasty caramel malts, enjoyable.

Lichtbruin bier met schuim. Smaak is bitter hoppig met iets van karamel, wat geroosterd brood en graan. Niet echt wat je van een IPA verwacht. Desondanks best goed.

Colour hazy medium amber, tall frothy off-white to beige head, good retention, heavy lacing. Aroma toasted malt, caramel, orange, pine. Flavour medium sweet and bitter, malty, grainy, light citrus, fruity, light pine; malty sweetbitter aftertaste, grainy, herbal notes, burnt caramel; medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation; not really an IPA, but nice anyway.
