Lager with orange blossoms & natural flavor added
The soft citrus of orange blossom gives this Helles lager a bright note and complements its sweet honey malt, leading to a smooth round finish.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma is bready. Med body. Flavor is Germanly bready with a very hard to get orange note. Basically it’s a plain old Helles. Not too dry, mildly bitter.

Fairly workmanlike attempt at the style--fitting, I guess, considering the beer’s origins--fresh and bright with a noticeable malt crispness, but also a bit too light to leave much of a lasting impression. Pale malts provide a bread-and-honey sweetness, but the orange blossom feels lacking, not offering up much as far as floral notes go. Finishes with a mild, citric-tinged bitterness mixed with a grainy undertone, yet never grows too complex. Looks good, though, bright gold with a nice white head and minor lacing. Nose is no great shakes, but the palate’s good. But what’s the deal with breweries thinking Spring’s the right time to dump bland golden beer on the market? Just because it’s Spring doesn’t mean we’re all pining for craft takes on blah macrolagers.

Clear light gold pour with a white head and average retention. Good lacing. Soft mouthfeel. Sweet helles body. I don’t really taste orange blossom but I can tell something is different. Honey? Decent. More Dortmunder than Helles.

Bottle. Clear gold with a white head. Very light honey aroma. The flavor is lightly bitter, a bit soapy. Next.
