Deadeye is a term for a pulley used on old school sailing ships, thought to be named after the resemblance of a skull. This Double IPA is heavily hopped with Mosaic, Hallertau Blanc, and Citra - leaving the beer saturated with resinous flavours like passion fruit, orange, and pineapple that sit atop a foundation of bitterness.

473mL can, pours a hazy orange with a medium white head. Aroma has plenty of resinous hops, orange rind, and sweet caramel malt. Flavour is quite bitter, with plenty of orange rind, resinous hops, grapefruit peel, and a lightly sweet caramel malt base that’s lost underneath the lingering bitterness. Not the most evocative hop expression, but the structure is good—balanced and assertive. Very good.

473mL can. Pours hazy deep gold with a white head. Gentle tropical fruit and pine on the nose. Flavour is fairly dry, some caramel malts up front, hops are giving some dry grass, tropical fruit, some pine, a touch of allium. I appreciate the bitterness on the palate, though the hops aren't the most expressive. Pretty solid.
