Raison d\’Être – our reason for being – is the quintessential expression of cidermaking on Broome Farm. Our philosophy in a single cider: clean, ripe, bittersweet apples, wild fermented in oak casks, matured patiently and quietly, and bottle conditioned. A cider in harmony; full of complexity, and which showcases our identity and our passion. The 2023 vintage is delicate, with rolling fruit flavours balanced by a warming barrel influence.

18/11/2025. Bottle shared by danlo, cheers Ed! Mucky, woody, peaty, funky, coal tar soap, petroleum jelly. Quite intense. Didn’t float my boat.

750ml bottle from Ross on Wye, rated on Raison d’Être Vintage 2023 release day 28th August 2025. Bottle 123 of 1330. Slightly hazed golden colour, short-lived white foam head and aroma of wood barrel, apple, funk. Taste is tangy, tart, appley, fruity, with wood barrel, peat, some funk, and drying earthy tannins. Medium bodied, low carbonation, dry tangy tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.
