This Golden Sorghum Lager will appeal to beer drinkers who prefer the lighter taste of lagers produced by the major brewers, such as Anheuser-Busch, Coors, Miller, and Heineken. This ale has a light crisp taste to meet the thirst quenching requirements of the lager style while still having enough body to interest the ale drinker during the spring and summer seasons. This beer has low bitterness and a subtle but pleasant hop aroma that will gently caress the senses.

Bottle sample at a tasting at avrashi’s place. Thanks kerenmk. As "Bard’s The Original Sorghum Malt Beer". Hazy golden with no head. Weird cereals aroma. Very unpleasant weird cereals flavor with some sweetness and a sour edge. Light-bodied. Yuck.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a small white head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is corn malt and wheat. Similar flavor to the aroma. Not much going on with this one.

I was lucky to find a single of this at the LCBO... as I am not a big fan of gluten-free beer. "The Original Sorghum Malt Beer" pours a golden colour with a foamy white cap that does last and gives out soapy lacing. The aroma is quite strong for this, with lots of sweetness (grape juice, honey), hay and hints of burnt plastic. Just really different. The taste is not as strong though, with watered-down apple cider and white grapes. Kind of bland. This one won’t make me a fan, but if gluten is not your thing, Brasseurs Sans Gluten brews the best ones.

Bottle (labeled Bard’s Gold). Sweet sugary aroma. Hazy amber with a minimal head. Spicy sorghum flavor with a dry finish. Medium body. I don’t think I like sorghum in beer.

12oz bottle from the state store
I wasn’t expecting much and I wasn’t disappointed!
The good: Pours clear golden with a medium sized white head and good lacing
The medium: Aroma is bready with spices
The bad: Taste is very bisquity with some sourness
Footbalmed the rest of the glass. For some reason I also bought another sorghum beer at the same time. I’m looking forward (not) to trying it.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours clear light amber with medium size off-white head that dissapates quickly. Aroma is odd malt, medium carbonation, and medium body. Taste is caramel malt and an off tartness. This is not that good.

Location: Sampled at the NY Brewfest on Governor's Island, 6/19/10
Overall Impression: I wasn't a particularly big fan of this one. It is a basically a mediocre American style adjunct lager but with the upside that people with a wheat allergy can drink it. Light and lacking in flavor and substance. The overarching take-away from my notes is that this one "kinda sucked." I didn't write too much more down about this one beyond that.
