Kind of appalling that it was on tap weeks before Halloween, but whatever - what can you, right? C'est la vie. Poured a very slightly hazy orange color with a medium sized, fluffy off-white head. Aroma was cinnamon, herbal notes, spices, nutmeg. Very malt forward in both aroma and flavor. Light spice finish, which was pleasant. Sweet.

Bottle from Swing Bridge Beer & Wine, Surf City, North Carolina. Amber-brown with no head. Sweet and spicy, although neither are too overbearing. Good winter ale with a small strength to it.

Pour is a clear dark brown with a large white head. Aroma is full of nutmeg and ginger. I love a good spice ale and the aroma does not disappoint. Flavor is more ginger heavy with some pie spice and honey sweetness in the background. Again, I love a nice spiced winter ale and this fits the bill. I can see where some would get burnt out by the spice but it’s right in my wheelhouse.

Draught @ Albion. Dark amber with decent sized creamy beige head, faint caramel aroma, medium carbonation, spicy caramel taste with ginger and cinnamon flavors, thin body, long spicy finish. Not bad but reminded me of licorice, which I don’t like.

Arts and Crafts Beer Parlor, NYC tap: Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma is caramel, dark fruit, and loads of spices. Taste is sweet and malty with a lot of spicy notes. It is not all that interesting. I wasn’t a huge fan.
