When you think of Vienna, after delicious lagers and certain 80’s synth-pop songs, you may be reminded of the much-debunked “Father of Psychology”. We’ve paired these two Austrian icons to create a campy, dark Vienna lager with a subtly nutty undertone.

Can from Against The Grain. Deep amber body with a light haze and a beige head. Steady carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of nuts, dried leaves and toffee. Flavour of caramel and roasted malt. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. I love a Vienna lager and this is a very good one indeed.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours deep reddish - brown with a decent fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet, ripe berries, bramble, cherry, splash of Dr Pepper, jammy, toasty, sticky roast, malt loaf and treacle. The taste is smooth, bitter - sweet, roasty malts, burnt toast, jammy, cherry, bramble, blueberry, splash of cola, toasted brown bread, some umami and liquorice allsorts with a toasty, cherry finale. Average body and moderate carbonation.. flavourful and strikes a very nice balance. Impressed with this one.
