This Olde English Stock Ale was brewed with a 200+ year old yeast strain from Harvey's brewery in Sussex, England. The beer is aged for 12 months in oak barrels. Stock Ales were traditionally blended with younger, smaller beers to add complexity, but were also served straight like ours. The beer displays the subtle brett and lovely souring character from the ancient yeast strain.

2023 version Huge, rather dense beige head over jet-black beer with a redbrown edge. Roast, stout, hot roasted meat, and a truckload of liquorice. Roast, but immediatel a light (stout)acidity, bit as unripe grapes. Fermenting grains, liquorice. In the end, and certainly warming up, it gets quite vinous, red wine-like. Medium bodied, absolutely some acidthinning, and alcoholwarmth. Ultra slick-velvety, yet quite present carbonation. Remarkable beer, both original and surprising, lovely discovery.
