Keg at Whole Foods Charlottesville. Clear dark brown, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of sweet hazelnut, nothing else. The taste is nuts, chocolate, cherry, oats. Medium bodied, mild lingering roastiness.

Draft: Strong hazelnut, peanut, and coffee nose. Ruby black, medium tan head, good lacing. Hazelnut, charred oak, slightly vegetal particularly on the back end. Full body, soft carbonation. Flawed, but the hazelnut addition more than makes up for it.

On Tap clear deep redish brown Thin light tan head. Big time hazelnut malt aromas. Mild toasted malts and lots of hazelnut again Clean palate. Pretty basic otherwise.

Draft at Yard House Springfield. Poured a dark, ruby brown color with a small tan head. Aroma was chocolate, with lots of hazelnut notes. Flavor was light semi-sweet malts, roasted notes. Kind of reminded me of my decade old memories of the Rogue Hazelnut beer...

Draft at Flying Saucer. Clear ruby maroon color beige head. Rich cocoa powder aroma and acrid burnt licorice. Taste is earthy malt-o-meal. Really interesting. Love it or hate it.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a black color with a huge fluffy tan head that rose above the glass, lingered and left very good lacing. The aroma was sweetish and toasty with strong notes of hazelnut and cocoa. The flavor was strong hazelnut, toasty malts, roasty malts, moderate bitterness and wood. Very long hazelnut finish. Medium body. Quite nice.
