We don't normally make a habit of adding honey to the kettle, in general I think it's a waste of good honey to let it get that hot. With this batch we were trying out a new pilsner malt from LINC and our yield was a little low so we bumped the gravity with honey, the resulting yield was a little higher than we wanted and we ended up with a 5.5% batch of Grails.

After last year's single puncheon bottling I was really feeling the idea of just bottling some more single puncheons, and felt like this was keeping true to the name and idea of this beer to just keep checking in on where it's at this year. Normally the less funky/phenolic Grails batches get used for fruit, but this one presents that way and so I think between that, the new malt bill, and the honey that it would be a cool perspective on how batches we would normally blend are on their own, and a chance to watch this beer progress in bottle at a higher abv than it's usually sub-5%.

Bottling date: 12/12/2024
Conditioned with: Organic cane sugar (contains honey).
Cellar: best before 2028

Hazy, and pale. Thin head. Mellow honeyish aroma with earthy, herbaceous hops and light bugginess. Solid bitterness, definitely one of the hoppiest Floodlands I’ve ever had. Again, nice floral notes. The pale malt is solid always, and then there’s a moderate lactic note in the back. Probably more lactic than the usual from Floodland. Great complexity. A lot going on here - really nice depth.

750ml @ Ryan's shared with Josh (thx for helping with the logistics, dude!).
Aroma: refreshing, crispy, nice farmhouse characters.
Taste: along the same lines, quite intense and assertive, but still balanced not coming over the edge.
Overall: very nice ❤️

Poured from 750mL bottle. Hazy yellow with minimal white head. Mild honey, feint bitterness, light pils base. Decent.
