Bottle sample at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks Lior D. Red-amber. Stale hops, a bit of vegetables, mildly tart, a bit sweetish, medium-bodied. Not so great.

500ml bottle. Pours amber with no head and reasonable carbonation. Tart vinegar, caramel biscuits, bread, lemon custard. It’s a bit of a shame that a brewery so good at barrel souring beers (and make no mistake, this is beautifully put together, with a lovely level of tartness and a perfect carbonation), chose to sour a beer that really just didn’t need it. The souring kills off much of the incredible complexity of the original beer and doesn’t really add much of interest. I’m not impressed at all, and I really wanted to be.

Draft at Duckworth, whoa. Clear maroon brown color. Aroma of sweet and sour plum and cherry. Taste is moderately sour dark overripe fruit. Very tasty.

Slightly hazy, no head. Aroma is a touch of tartness, light woody note, just a touch of tart, not all that complex though.

Tasting at Matt’s
Dark amber color, clean. Nice aroma of dark fruits, rye bread. Lean mouthfeel, undercarbonated, mild sourness, but it’s a bit puckery.
Average.

500mL bottle, pours a dark mahogany with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out red wine barrels, dry fruitiness and bready notes. Flavour is fairly tart but there is an unpleasant vegetal quality to it. Tart, stale fruits and vegetables on the finish. Not very impressive.
