Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, orange chooclate, brown sugar and alcohol. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long warm, sweet, orange chocolate finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Im not a fan of orange chocolate, but if that’s you thing this beer might be something for you.

Bottle, 22oz. A black one, more or less, topped by a dense, two-finger dark beige to light tan head. The orange and dark chocolate part of the aroma escaped the bottle immediately when opening it, and were the main elements of the aroma escaping the glass. Some mocha coffee hints too, some dark sugar and a vanilla hint. It’s full-bodied, super smooth and semi-sweet on the palate, with a nice bitterness to deal with the sweetness. Orange, dark chocolate and mocha in the flavor, lasting for a very long time. Yes, it’s definitely a fine beer, but the orange part of it feels too intense and rather artificial. 150608

Pours black into a tulip. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to mottle surface. Dark chocolate and tangerine aromas. Thick with dark chocolate and orange upfront turning to warm espresso in the lasting creamy finish.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 5/5/2015. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of huge orange peel, dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, fudge, toffee, toast, light coffee, light herbal, and roasted earthiness. Incredible aromas with awesome complexity and balance of chocolate, orange peel, and dark/roasted malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big orange peel, dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, fudge, toffee, toast, light coffee, light herbal, and roasted earthiness. Fair amount of citrus peel and roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of orange peel, dark chocolate, caramel, fudge, toffee, toast, light coffee, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of chocolate, orange peel, and dark/roasted malt flavors; with a great bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and slightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an incredible spiced imperial stout style! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of chocolate, orange peel, and dark/roasted malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

22 ounce bottle. Pours opaque black with a very small tan head. Nose is predominately orange with some cocoa. Like a chocolate creamsicle. Rich roasted malt with a big orange peel whomp! Silky mouthfeel with lot’s of bittersweet chocolate. Bitter resiny hops come through in midtaste. Finish is dry and more bitterness. This is a big beer, have no doubt. Best sipped slowly, the complexity grows as the beer warms. Quite tasty
