Saaz is a classic European hop known for its earthy, spicy, and herbal profile. But fresh from the field and thrown into a New England IPA? That’s a game-changer. The cold-infused Saaz in this 6% haze bomb brings bright lemongrass, white pepper, and floral spice on a silky-soft malt body of Maris Otter, malted oats, flaked corn and torrified wheat.
A noble experiment in local flavor.

Can. Just a very light haze on this gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Light palate, fairly smooth for a bit but then good fine minerally carbonation takes hold. Light smooth pale malts, a soft and slightly nutty German style sweetness. Saaz as an IPA? Great idea. Have to disagree with my Brewver colleague below. I'm digging the bright pine and lemongrass combo. Some mild floral herbyness coming through on the back end. Hmm, let me think, what does this remind me of? That would be Sorachi Ace then, a descendant of Saaz. Good experiment, both tasty and educational.

Can from Drankenhandel Leiden. Grassy hop with notes of gooseberries and lemongrass. Soft pale malt. Moderate to medium bitter, fairly dry. Underwhelming, there's a reason Saaz isn't used as an aromahop for IPA's.
