Hoppy Sour: Amarillo is a celebration of the fruit flavors that lie within the pernicious weed. We combined a brettanomyces farmhouse ale fermented in foedres with an intense IPA-style dry hop. The result is a melange of peach, pineapple and tangerine aromas and flavors that blend magically with brett’s trademark funk and minerality. This hoppy—but not bitter—sipper is a versatile complement to a broad range of dishes including sweet Belgian waffles, savory grilled halibut and Waldorf salads.

Reviewed from notes.
Bottle to tulip.
Appearance: bright yellow to orange color with a finger's worth of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: subtle lemon to tangerine to sweet grassy hops meshing with a semi-vinous tart to sour quality with some light funk
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas to a fine sour to tart to bittersweet quality; finishes tart and bittersweet with lemony and tangerine-like tones
Texture: light to medium bodied, good sipper; light smoothnes but also some tart/sour harshness
Overall: nicely done hoppy sour ale worthy of coming back to.

Very good beer, but I don’t pick up much hop character other than the citrus. Bright tart flavor. Good finish.

Tap at the brewpub. Pours cloudy pale amber. Aroma is grassy hops over funky brett. Medium body, tart and lightly sour, fizzy carbonation. Light wine barrel aroma. Dry palate. Very refreshing.

Bottle. Pours a hazy mellow gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma combines grassy hops with tart citrus and has a light sweetness underlying. Flavor has more sour citrus with a acid bite and a nice grassy note supporting.

Tap at Brasserie V. Unfiltered orange-tan-yellow body. Steady white head. Bright amarillo complements the sour tones, giving it that modern juicy feel. Mellow carbonation. Dry and biting. Really tasty, impressive amarillo display.

Hazy blonde. Ok, not much head, just a few bubbles. That amarillo kicks off a pineapple and papaya character. Tart, fruity, clean...this has a nice hop note, brett-forward sour, and while the sour is fairly strong it’s okay in context.

375mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out dry hopping, followed by brett and stone fruits. Flavour is pronounced on the hops, with floral hoppiness upfront, followed by tangerines, pineapple and peaches. So much tropical stone fruitiness. Nice blend of hops with the fruits. Very good.
