Amber color with toasty, woodsy, herbal, and caramel aromas. Easy drinking, light caramel layered with woodsy, toasty, and bready notes. This beer became popular in the late 1800’s with the influx of German immigrants into California. The origin of the name comes from how the beer was cooled. Using Keolschips on the top of buildings, the billows of steam coming off these shallow vats gave it the name steam beer. This is a beer fermented with lager yeast, but at warmer ale fermentation temperatures.

Canned 3/8/25, from brewery cooler, drunk 10/16/25.
Clear, bright rusty-amber with a large, well-retained, beige head.
Big and fruity with rich base malt and tasteful medium malts lending a light caramel and toffee character. Minor hoppiness adding peppery, earthy notes and finishing dry and with plentiful crisp yeast and mineral.
Minimal breadiness, just enough, same going for toast and caramel. Lots of red fruit, pepper, slight floral accents and a malty, deep texture with great attenuation and a big, lasting finish. Very, very flavorful, clean and well-made stuff.
