The Kölsch style harks back to Cologne, Germany during a time when top-fermenting and bottom-fermenting brewing styles were at odds with each other, where the local council was mandating against bottom-fermentation (lager yeast). In the end, the forbidden love between ale and lager prevailed, fermenting with ale yeast and finishing with cold lagering. Hopped with Perle and Spalt, Forbidden Love Story is a nod to the origin of the style and the improbable union of ale and lager.

Can. Pale gold, a 2cm white head. Soft fruity and spicy aroma with light crackers. Very light bodied. Some apricot, spices, modest bitterness. A bit too empty in the middle where you'd hope it would be round. But OK.
