The most important thing is that we are alike on the inside, not on the outside.
Final Phantasy is a Hazy Double IPA brewed in collaboration with our friends at @kilterbrewing over in Winnipeg. This is the third time we’ve partied up to bring our lupulin based fantasies to life, with our past battles resulting in The Legend of Citra and Super Citra Bros.
Our quest this time began with ample amounts of Nelson Sauvin (both pellets and cryo), a hop known for it’s tropical and wine grape flavours. To push it to the limit, we used Freestyle’s Mega Motueka hops, which are Motueka hops blended with Phantasm powder: a thiol precursor made from from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, which is used to elevate the tropical flavours of hazy IPAs. What entails are characters of passion fruit, pineapple, mango, tangerine, lime, papaya, lychee, and white grape, complimented by a light dankness, a mild floral character, a little alcohol warmth, and a balanced bitterness carried by a silky smooth mouthfeel.

On tap at Threefold. Pours nearly opaque dull yellow with a white head. Tropical fruit and dank hops on the nose. Flavour has dank grassy hops, overripe tropical fruit, some citrus peels. Bitter finish. Nice, none of the usual hazy problems; I can get behind this.

On tap at Threefold, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Nose has plenty of hopburn, some nice tangy hops, and gentle tropical fruit. Flavour is quite tropical and bright, with tons of tropical fruits, bright melon, tangy hops, and some citrus. Very minimal hopburn/chalk on the mouthfeel. Nice clarity and hop expression. Definitely one of Boombox’s better hazies of late.

16oz @ Ryan's shared with Farees, Josh, and Alex (thx for thr beer!).
Aroma: daaaaank (Farees approved (c)), juicy, somewhat sweet and fruity.
Taste: empty-bodied somehow, a bit harsh, quite bitter.
Overall: taste and aroma are so different, I wish they taste would be in line with the nose.

Opaque, and pale. Thin head. The aroma is a bit weedy, some nice grapefruit character. The grapefruit is pretty good here, the base is somewhat weak. Finish sort of off-dry.

Poured from 473mL can (pkg 2025 Oct 01). Hazy yellow with small white head. Fairly dank, tangy hops, decent, though taste doesn't quite live up to the nose.
