Bottle. Caramel malt aroma with notes of brown sugar, dark fruit, toffee and some booze. Pours clear copper colored with a finger of tan head that has excellent retention and some lacing. Starts with caramel, brown sugar and toffee flavors as well as having a medium body and smooth mouthfeel. Finishes smooth with dark fruit and some boozy flavors. Pretty nice strong ale, but very sweet.

Deep amber in color with a small head. Aroma was very hoppy and sweet. Taste had hints of brown sugar and hops with a slight bitter finish.

12oz bottle. I stopped buying anything by Lagunitas a long time ago, but got suckered into buying this at 6.99 or whatever it was a six pack. Straight up dextrose bomb. The aroma sucks, diesely sugar water. Sugary, almost has that artificial icing taste. Hops are there but not impressive. Pretty weak stuff. They definitely used to be better than they are now.

12 ounce bottle. Copper, orange pour. Frothy beige head. Rich, malty aroma hints at caramel. Flavor is sweet and boozy. Toasted malt and toffee . Lots of peppery hops, as well. Tasty.

2025 bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear copper with a finger of off-white head that lingers. Grapefruit, pine resin and fresh citrus on the nose with toasted caramel malt and warming alcohol as it warms. More pine and citrus pith on the palate with some bright orange zest as it warms. Warming alcohol throughout. A nice re-hash from Lagunitas.

Six pack from Albertsons. Amber pour with a silky off-white head, coats the glass as it recedes. Sweet, malty aroma, caramel. Taste is toffee, tea, sweet, brown sugar, malty, nutty. A touch of dryness at the finish as it tapers off. Hint of the ABV appears late

I was in the closest big box supermarket recently and they had a huge, repeat, huge display of six packs of this beer. Fortunately they were also selling singles because a similar iteration of this beer I’ve had years ago was only okay. Snifter ready to go, I make the pour. It arrives an impressive clear shiny amber topped by a decent skim of light tan foam. A sweetish smell with grain showing up also. A drink now. I’ll say that my expectations were low and the beer exceeds but not by a whole bunch. Mostly malt, grain, Karo syrup, maybe a hint of molasses. I wish it was thicker. Sweet, yes, but not too much. I am surprised by how much the ABV is covered up. Not bad, I’m reminded of barrel aged Arrogant Bastard back in the day only sweeter, but I am glad that I got only one bottle and not a sixer. Lagunitas used to be out in front of of it with Undercover, Little Sumpin, Hop Stoopid, Sucks and more recently Maximus but that seems to not be the case now. Unfortunate.
