The perfect maple red ale to see in the autumn. A full-bodied and sweet ale with notes of maple and pine in taste and smell, with a subtle peppery spice that’s nice and subtle with minimal bitterness. Pure autumnal aura in a glass.

Sheffield CAMRA Beer Festival 2025, Beer#2. Deeper amber rather than red, with a small glow. The maple is apparent enough, not too strong, but is dominant in both aroma and taste. Decent autumnal style ale.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a hazy chestnut with a small foamy cream head and good lacing. There’s vanilla, malts and maple in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy with malts again to the fore. Flavours too of nuts and maple plus hints of honey and werthers original sweets. Finish is slightly dry. I think this is fairly decent but it was served too cold to really tell !
