Barrel Born: Black Celebration #3 - Bourbon Barrel Aged Double Foreign Extra Stout with Vanilla & Mosaic Hops
With this beer, we are launching a new series called "Barrel Born" – beers aged in barrels.
Double Foreign Extra Stout (20° BLG, 8% ABV) aged for one year in a freshly emptied bourbon barrel from Wolf & Oak distillery, that imparted a unique character. The aroma is dominated by notes of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and dried fruits, complemented by vanilla, oak, and a hint of coconut from the wood. It's deeply roasted and dry, with a warming alcoholic finish with velvet body.

On tap at WBF 2025, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has moderate vanilla upfront, subdued bourbon barrel, and bright tropical hops in back. Flavour is quite bitter for a big stout, with deep roast, boozy woody barrels, and bittering hops. I like the bitterness but this is a tad unbalanced.

On tap at Warsaw Beer Festival 2025. Pours black with a tan head. Lots of bourbon and roasted malts on the nose. Flavour has decent roast, toasted bread crusts, and bourbon barrels. Pretty solid.
