Dark and beautiful, this is the love child of American hops and German malt. Floral perfume from dry hopping and sultry smokiness blend to make a unique beer that you’ll find hard to quit.

On tap at Fat Bottom, pours black withba small light brown head. Aroma is odd, with a sort of root beer scent to this, with subdued roasted malt and hops. Flavour is similar, with medium roasted malt, light hops and root beer. Not sure how they achieved this root beer quality incidentally. It's decent, but seems a bit off the mark.

Tap. Pours deep red mahogany, medium creamy tan head, huge staying power, great lacing. Aroma is roasty, a hint of chicory, pine, astray, touch of rubber. Flavor follows, light plus sweet and bitter, more roasty than IPA. Bitterness without flavor character, which is a bummer. Medium body, great mouthfeel.

2015 Knoxville Brewer’s Jam Black pour with a tan head. Roast malt aroma. Roast malt, espresso. Some hop bitterness. Ventures into Stout territory for me.
