Inspired by our beloved brewery cat who is always up for a hug or a joke. 'Droef' is a blend of spontaneously fermented organic Frankenthaler and Southern Italian Aglianico grapes with our own Watergeus. This style, which is called Italian Grape Ale, combines fresh acidity of the Watergeus with the full mouthfeel of natural wine.

Bottle. Unfortunately, Toon no longer brews, which is an impoverishment of Dutch beer culture. Fortunately, I got my hands on this last Droef Grape Ale edition. Color: Slightly hazy pinkish orange, thin off-white head. Aroma: A lot of grape, some funk and wood. Taste: Grape, grapeskin, wood, tannins. Rural funk. Earthy. Dry. Medium tart, light bitterness. Just over medium body, average carbonation. Nice one. Thanks for the nice beers, Toon!

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Hazy dull dark pink to purple. Massive funk, sour wheat, fruity grapes with some wine notes but also cherries and strawberry. Light mineral, dry oak and bitter fruit skins. Solid medium sour, medium serrt and bitter. Over medium bodied.
