Thank you! Sampled 750 ml. bottle & also a draft sample @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2015. Dark brown, red amber,… Nose carries some strong varnish, spirit, warming licorice, thick malty, mocha,… Taste is licorice, thick malt, mocha, sugar, warming, chocolate, wood cake,… A bit too thin to fully carry the flavours, touch fizzy. Nice but not exceptional, almost closer to a porter than Belgian. Draft version was nicer, rounder, more uniformity, touch better body. Rating is for the draft version.

Mikkeller santa little helper 2015. Sampled @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2015. Nice deep dark red to dark amber color, huge dense off-white to beige head that lasts for a long time. Aroma is malts, sweet, some wood. Tastes about the same: malts, sweet, some wood, lightly alcohol and some toffee. Full body, medium carbonation. Quite pleasant. .

Bottle. Pours murky dark reddish cola black with medium light brown head. Aroma is malt, red wine, plums, gala apples and buckwheat. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter, medium umami and light salty. Body is oily with duct carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with notes of malt, tamarind and miso soup. Too mild for my taste.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - opaque black with a nice fawn/espresso head. Nose - dark sugar and chocolate. Taste - more of the same, in fact, milk chocolate, creamy generally. Palate - medium plus bodied with a creamy texture and an elegant finish. Overall - a nice rounded strong beer.

Bottle at Beer Hunters, Pori. Dark ruby color, good beige head. Roasted malts, coffee, light alcohol and sweet notes in the nose. Medium-bodied to full-bodied. Chocolaty-cocoa flavors, hints of vanilla, roasted maltyness. Maybe more towards imperial stout than bsa. Quite allright.

(330ml bottle from Systemet) Pours fairly hazy dark brown with a medium tan head of dense froth and spotty lace. Aroma of brown candy sugar, dark malt, slightly burnt toast, cinnamon, nutmeg, coffee beans, a bit of candied orange peel, boozy hints. Flavour is pretty sweet with brown sugar, caramel malt and toffee core, bread, nuts, toast, nutmeg, cinnamon, some orangey hints, and some alcohol kicking in on the finish. Aftertaste has some slightly bitter roast and spice qualities, a bit toasty and nutty. Medium bodied, fairly soft carbonation. Eh, it just doesn’t really do much to finesse anything or jump out, resolutely not bad but not amazing Belgian strong.

As usual enjoyed with my friends at the annual Christmas party. Not as good as usual.
Thick brownish liquid with a dense beige head. Quite creamy texture and a soft-ish carbonation. Roasted, chocolate, bready, fruity and some spices. A little bit to sweet.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a deep brown with one-finger of light tan foam. Big milk chocolate aromas dominate the nose with some cinnamon, nutmeg, light pine, raisin, prune and light coffee. Some light maple syrup as well. Full body that feels lighter on the palate. Hides the abv brilliantly. Complex flavors come together well.
